Have Your Say On The Regulatory Systems (Social Security) Amendment Bill (No 2)

The Social Services and Community Committee is calling
for public submissions on the Regulatory Systems (Social
Security) Amendment Bill (No 2) until 11.59pm on Thursday,
20 August 2026.

The Bill is an omnibus Bill that
amends legislation administered by the Ministry of Social
Development and the New Zealand Defence Force. The bill aims
to improve the provision of social welfare benefits and the
functioning of the overall social security system
by:

• making minor policy changes to the New
  Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income Act 2001, the
  Social Security Act 2018, and the Veterans’ Support Act
  2014;
• making minor technical amendments to the New
  Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income Act 2001, the
  Social Security Act 2018, and the Veterans’ Support Act
  2014;
• repealing the Family Benefits (Home Ownership)
  Act 1964.
