Georgia’s Foreign Trade Up 7.5% in January-July 2026 – Civil Georgia



Georgia’s external merchandise trade, excluding non-declared trade, reached USD 15.519 billion in January-July 2026, up 7.5% year-on-year, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) on August 19. Kyrgyzstan remained Georgia’s largest export market, Turkey its top import partner, while motor cars continued to dominate both exports and imports.

Exports increased by 21.6% year-on-year to USD 4.67 billion, while imports rose by 2.4% to USD 10.84 billion. The trade deficit stood at USD 6.17 billion, accounting for 39.8% of total external trade turnover.

Kyrgyzstan remained Georgia’s leading export destination, with exports totaling USD 521.2 million, followed by China at USD 493 million and Russia at USD 437.5 million. The top ten export destinations accounted for 70.2% of Georgia’s total exports.

Motor cars remained the country’s largest export commodity, with exports valued at USD 1.16 billion, accounting for 24.9% of total exports. Petroleum and petroleum oils ranked second at USD 571.5 million (12.2%), followed by precious metal ores and concentrates at USD 356.3 million (7.6%).

Turkey continued to be Georgia’s largest import partner, with imports totaling USD 1.65 billion, followed by Russia at USD 1.37 billion, and China at USD 1.29 billion. The top ten import partners accounted for 70.6 % of total imports.

Motor cars also topped the list of imported commodities, reaching USD 2.03 billion (18.7%). Petroleum and petroleum oils ranked second at USD 967.4 million (8.9%), followed by “medicaments put up in measured doses,” at USD 422.6 million (3.9%), according to Geostat.
