online “Meet the Candidates” show to the by-election for
one Wairarapa General Constituency Councillor.

Greater Wellington Regional Council – Wairarapa General
Constituency By-election at 7pm next Wednesday 29 July
to watch five of the six candidates answer questions that
have been submitted by voters before the show.
As a
community-led education and participation initiative,
It’s in the Ballot takes its
format from the Kiwi TV classic ‘It’s in the
Bag’.
Its live-streaming and online abilities are
important in sparsely populated electorates such as the
Wairarapa Constituency to increase voter awareness and
participation.
It adds a political twist to assist
voters to decide who they will vote for as their Wairarapa
General Constituency Councillor.
The show uses
broadcasting and web-based technologies to deliver in-studio
and online “Meet the Candidate” meetings. YouTube videos
are showcased after the show on the It’s in the
Ballot YouTube channel.
Attendees are
encouraged to submit questions by 10pm on Sunday 26 July by
going to Question

By-election.
Thirty questions are chosen for the
show and sent to candidates two days before the show so
candidates can l prepare their responses.
So far Amber
Craig, Colin Olds, John Hart, Jill Greathead and Michael
Birch have submitted their candidate details for
participation in this
show.
