Call For Submissions On The Armed Forces Discipline Legislation Amendment Bill

The Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee is
calling for submissions on its examination of the Armed
Forces Discipline Legislation Amendment Bill. All New
Zealanders are welcome to submit on this bill, whether or
not they are connected with the service.

The Armed
Forces Discipline Legislation Amendment Bill aims to make
the military justice system, which applies to uniformed
Armed Forces personnel in the New Zealand Defence Force,
easier to navigate and administer. Unlike the civilian
justice system, the military justice system applies to Armed
Forces personnel everywhere in the world.

Changes in
the Bill would update aspects of the military justice system
to improve its ability to deal with serious, complex or
sensitive offending, and low-level offending. It aims to
ensure that the military justice system is fair, efficient,
and transparent, and can function in a range of different
operational environments.

Tell the Foreign Affairs,
Defence and Trade Committee what you think:

Make
a submission
by 11.59pm on Wednesday, 25 March
2026.
