Georgia’s Annual Inflation at 5.9% in October 2026 – Civil Georgia

Georgia’s annual inflation rate reached 5.9% in October, while consumer prices increased by 0.9% month-on-month, according to data released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on November 3.

The annual inflation rate was driven primarily by higher prices in the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels category, which rose by 10.1%. Prices also increased in health (8.4%), miscellaneous goods and services (8%), and restaurants and hotels (7.3%). Meanwhile, education prices fell by 12%, while communication prices decreased by 2.5%.

Within the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, the highest annual price increases were recorded for fish (20.2%), followed by meat (7.6%), oils and fats (7%), coffee, tea and cocoa (5.7%), vegetables (4.1%), and bread and cereals (4%). Prices for milk, cheese and eggs increased by 0.6%.

Fruit and grapes became 4.5% cheaper, while prices for sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery fell by 3.3%, and those for mineral waters, soft drinks, and fruit and vegetable juices decreased by 1.2%.

On a monthly basis, the sharpest price increase was recorded in clothing and footwear, where prices rose by 10.6%. Transport prices increased by 2.6%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as well as housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, each became 0.6% more expensive. Prices in recreation and culture, meanwhile, decreased by 0.8%.

In October, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), which has set a 3% inflation target, raised its 2026 inflation forecast to 5.4%.

The European Commission’s European Economic Forecast projects inflation to remain elevated in 2026 due to high energy prices. According to Fitch Ratings, one of the major credit rating agencies, inflation in Georgia will “remain high over the coming months and decline gradually thereafter towards the 3% target.”
