Georgia is hosting the trilateral “Caucasian Eagle 2026” exercises involving local, Turkish and Azerbaijani special operations forces.
The exercises, which kicked off on June 16, aim to “deepen synchronization and coordination” of the three countries’ special operations units, “enhance interoperability,” and “share experience,” the Georgian Defense Ministry said, adding that they focus on small-unit tactics and the execution of assigned missions.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Georgian Dream First Deputy Defence Minister Paata Patiashvili, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Mustafa Türker Arı and Azerbaijani Ambassador Faig Guliyev at the Special Operations Command base in Mukhrovani, a village outside Tbilisi.
The exercises are held annually in all three countries on the principle of rotation. Last year, the exercises were hosted by Turkey.
