Georgia Records 6.9% GDP Growth in Q2 2026 – Civil Georgia



Georgia’s real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.9% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while nominal GDP reached GEL 28.147 billion, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on September 18.

Growth was primarily driven by increases in “value added” in several economic activities, including transportation and storage (19.8%), arts, entertainment and recreation (17.4%), information and communication (16.6%), health (15%), wholesale, retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8%), and manufacturing (7.3%), Geostat said.

Meanwhile, construction declined by 4.8% and agriculture, forestry and fishing by 3.5%.

Wholesale and retail trade accounted for the largest share of GDP by economic activity, at 14.9%, followed by real estate activities at 9.1%, manufacturing at 8.9%, and information and communication at 7.6%.

Public administration and defense, as well as compulsory social security and construction, each accounted for 6.5% of GDP, while agriculture, forestry and fishing and education each made up 6.4%. Transportation and storage accounted for 6.3%.

Georgia’s economy is projected to grow by 6% in 2026, according to a report by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which forecasts growth to slow to 5% in 2027.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects Georgia’s economy to grow by 6.5% in 2026, while expecting inflation to remain above the National Bank of Georgia’s target until mid-2027.

The United Nations’ World Economic Situation and Prospects 2026 projects Georgia’s economy to grow by 5.4% in 2026, while the World Bank has forecast 5.5% growth.

Geostat said the revised data will be published by November 13, 2026.
