Georgian Dream Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze resigned, citing health reasons. In a resignation letter published on July 28 on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Culture, Rukhadze said she made the decision following consultations with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
“Due to my health condition, I will need to undergo an urgent course of treatment, which will prevent me from properly fulfilling my duties as minister,” Rukhadze wrote. She did not provide further details about her health.
“Culture is a field that requires special care and attention, and I regret that my health does not allow me to devote the necessary attention to the work that I love so much and that is most precious to me,” she added. Rukhadze thanked Kobakhidze, Georgian Dream government members and Culture Ministry employees for their support, saying she would remain their “supporter” and wishing them success.
Rukhadze was appointed culture minister on October 18, 2024, ahead of the October 26 parliamentary elections. She succeeded Tea Tsulukiani, the longest-serving minister in the Georgian Dream government, who resigned from the post and entered parliament.
