Nationwide Rallies Across New Zealand In Solidarity With The Iranian People

Iranian communities and supporters of democracy across
New Zealand will gather on Saturday, 7 March, in Auckland,
Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin to express solidarity
with the Iranian people and their ongoing fight for freedom,
democracy, and territorial integrity.

The rallies will
bring together Iranians, New Zealanders, and members of the
international community who stand with the people of Iran at
a historic moment in their fight against the Islamic
Republic. A large share of Iranians supports the ongoing
military assistance provided by U.S. and Israeli forces
targeting the regime and IRGC resources, provided that all
possible precautions are taken to protect civilians.
Iranians are calling for international support for their
democratic aspirations and for the safeguarding of Iran’s
territorial integrity.

The participants strongly
condemn the nationwide internet blackout in Iran, which
prevents millions of Iranians from contacting their
families, sharing information, and documenting events on the
ground. The shutdown also endangers civilians by blocking
the ability of international actors, including the U.S. and
Israeli militaries, to communicate safety warnings or inform
people about areas that should be avoided during ongoing
operations.

For 47 years, the Islamic Republic has
maintained power through repression and violence against its
own citizens — including censorship, ideological
discrimination, coercive enforcement of strict social and
religious codes, crackdowns, executions, and torture —
while exporting instability and terror abroad through its
military and proxy networks. The massacre of protesters in
Iran in January 2026 has once again demonstrated the
regime’s willingness to use extreme violence to remain in
power.

In addition to its domestic repression, the
regime has been responsible for numerous acts of terrorism
beyond Iran’s borders. For these reasons, demonstrators
consider the Islamic Republic a terrorist regime whose
continued existence threatens both the Iranian people and
international security.

Calls to the United States
and Israel

Participants will call on the United
States and Israel to ensure that any military actions
against the regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps
(IRGC) are conducted with maximum precision to avoid
civilian harm. The Iranian people have suffered greatly
under the regime, and any international action must be
carefully targeted so that it weakens the apparatus of
repression without endangering the civilian
population.

Calls to the International
Community

The rallies will emphasise the importance
of protecting Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty
during any future political transition. Iran must remain
united and intact after the fall of the Islamic Republic,
and no part of the country should be
separated.

Participants will affirm that Iran’s
future political system must be determined solely by the
Iranian people through a democratic process. The
international community should support this right to
self-determination. At this historic moment, such support
must include backing the Iranian revolution and the
establishment of a transitional government under the
leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi, whose name is chanted by
millions of Iranians inside the country and across the
diaspora.

The rallies will also call for the immediate
release of all political prisoners and detained protesters
in Iran, many of whom have been subjected to arbitrary
detention, torture, and sham judicial
proceedings.

Participants will further urge the
international community and technology providers to help
restore internet access and reconnect the Iranian people
with the outside world.

Calls to the Government of
New Zealand

Demonstrators will urge the New Zealand
government to take a clear stand against the Islamic
Republic by:

  • Officially designating the Islamic
Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist
    organization.
  • Closing the Islamic Republic’s
embassy in New Zealand, as the regime lacks democratic
legitimacy and represents a system built on repression and
    violence.
  • Support a peaceful democratic transition
in Iran by engaging with Prince Reza Pahlavi and
coordinating with the international community to assist in
    establishing a transitional government.
