APEC transportation
ministers concluded their meeting on Tuesday by issuing a
joint statement expressing their intent to advance
innovation in the transport sector to strengthen supply
chain resilience.
Reflecting the outcomes of the
meeting chaired by China’s Minister of Transport Liu Wei,
ministers underscored the indispensable function of
international transport links in regional
connectivity.
Ministers also encouraged member
economies to further advance connectivity cooperation,
taking into account the findings and recommendations from
the APEC
Connectivity Blueprint’s final review.
They also
encouraged economies to accelerate the modernization,
upgrading and digital transformation of transport
infrastructure and cooperation on secure digital solutions
to improve urban and rural transportation.
The
statement also recognized the increasing role of artificial
intelligence in transportation and encouraged member
economies to accelerate innovation in a secure
manner.
