The Taxpayers’ Union is calling on New Zealand First
leader Rt Hon Winston Peters to release his party’s fiscal
plan after
promising to show how NZ First would pay for the next
Budget earlier this week.
Taxpayers’ Union
spokesman, Rhys Hurley, said:
“Winston Peters
promised earlier in the week to show New Zealanders how
he’d pay for his spending promises. Later the same week,
he’s saying there’s no
fiscal plan and ‘this year’s Budget is his fiscal
plan’.”
“Advanced voting is only nine days away,
and New Zealand First has already promised to chuck
another $25,000-per-household of government spending on
the credit card. Voters have a right to scrutinise those
numbers before they go to the polls.”
“Winston’s
coalition partners have both managed a fiscal plan. And even
Labour have attempted one, albeit with $18 billion of
uncosted promises. Now, Winston needs to front up to
taxpayers too.”
