The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said its net purchases through the BMatch trading platform in July amounted to USD 488.2 million, bringing the country’s international reserves to USD 7.5 billion.
Meanwhile, the NBG’s cumulative net foreign currency purchases totaled $2.57 billion in January-July 2026.
NBG reiterated that international reserves are “an important safeguard for the country’s macroeconomic stability,” adding that it remains focused on building up reserves in line with its stated policy and increases them whenever market conditions allow.
The latest move follows net purchases of USD 86.6 million in January, USD 429.3 million in February, USD 333.3 million in April, USD 632.9 million in May, and USD 612.6 million in June, as well as USD 16.2 million in net sales in March. The purchases are part of the central bank’s broader policy of rebuilding foreign exchange reserves over the past year.
The central bank is expected to publish updated international reserve data on September 25, 2026.
