Businesswoman Ketevan Khurodze has been approved as a Georgian Dream MP in the disputed Parliament with the support of 79 lawmakers, replacing Maia Bitadze, who left her parliamentary seat after being appointed culture minister on September 15.
Khurodze was number 105 on the Georgian Dream party list in the 2024 parliamentary elections. According to media reports, she is the director of LLC Meidani Property, a company within the Meidani Group, which operates in the real estate management and development sector. She also serves as director of the LLC Sighnaghi Ethnopark in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region and owns a 25% stake in LLC Geonut, a company operating in the hazelnut sector.
Khurodze is also the Vice President for Administration and Finance at East-West University, a higher education institution located in Tbilisi. According to the university, she graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tbilisi State University in 2007 and from the Caucasus School of Law at Caucasus University in 2010. She subsequently completed PhD studies in civil law at the Georgian Technical University.
She replaces Bitadze, who had served as an MP since 2020 and chaired the parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources. Bitadze was appointed Culture Minister on September 15, replacing Tinatin Rukhadze, who stepped down in July after less than two years in office, citing health reasons.
