Geladze Leaves Deputy Interior Minister Post, Joins Oil And Gas Cooperation Board – Civil Georgia

Former Interior Minister and State Security Service Chief Geka Geladze has left his latest position as Deputy Interior Minister and reportedly joined the three-member supervisory board of the Georgian Oil and Gas Cooperation (GOGC), a state-run company managing national energy systems.

Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze issued a corresponding order on November 2, while pro-government media sources reported that Geladze has been appointed as a member of the GOGC board. The board’s other members are Chairman Vazha Khidasheli and Deputy Chairman Giorgi Chachibaia, according to the agency’s official website.

Geladze was appointed deputy interior minister on September 15, 2026, a day after he stepped down as head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), becoming the fourth SSSG head to leave the post in less than two years. At the time, he did not specify the reason for his resignation but said he would continue working “in another agency” following “consultations with the political team.”

Geladze, a former GD Interior Minister, became the fifth head of SSSG since its establishment in 2015, when he took office in April, replacing Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Before heading the SSSG, Geladze served as GD Interior Minister from May 2025. His earlier positions included deputy education minister (2023-2024), head of the Education Ministry’s Human Resources Service (2018-2023), head of the Interior Ministry’s Central Criminal Police Department (2016-2018) and deputy head of the National Probation Agency (2012-2016). He also held other positions at the Interior and Justice ministries and worked in the private sector.
