The Taxpayers’ Union has released the latest
advertisement in its We Can’t Afford Labour
campaign (https://www.wecantaffordlabour.nz), turning the
spotlight on Chris Hipkins’ record as Education
Minister.
Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson Tory Relf
said:
“Chris Hipkins wants another turn running the
country, but his record running our education system should
give parents pause. He scrapped National Standards, making
it harder to identify children falling behind, while too
many children were missing school and failing to master the
basics.
“Taxpayers paid for an education system that
failed to deliver for our kids. Parents deserved better than
children reaching the end of intermediate without the
reading and maths skills expected of them.
“Labour
would like voters to forget its report card. Our latest ad
is a reminder that the cost of failure isn’t just measured
in taxpayer dollars, but in children’s futures. We can’t
afford Labour.”
