Georgia’s real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.3% year-on-year in August 2026, according to rapid estimates released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on September 30. Average real GDP growth for January-August stood at 7.6%.
According to Geostat, growth in August was mainly driven by manufacturing, information and communication, financial and insurance activities, real estate activities, trade, transportation and storage.
Meanwhile, construction recorded a decline.
Economy Ministry’s press release listed healthcare; arts, entertainment and recreation; and electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply as further contributors to August’s growth.
“Georgia’s economy is showing stable dynamics,” the press release said. “The positive trends recorded in the country’s economy and the high economic growth clearly indicate that, despite external shocks, geopolitical tensions, and challenges, Georgia’s economy remains resilient.”
The ministry also highlighted foreign trade as a “factor contributing to economic growth,” saying that exports increased by 22.1% to USD 5.4 billion in January-August. Domestic exports, excluding re-exports, increased by 63.5% to USD 3.3 billion, it added.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) recently upgraded its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth, estimating real GDP growth of 6.5% in 2026 and 5.5% in 2027. Both forecasts were revised upward by 0.5 percentage points from the EBRD’s June projections.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects Georgia’s economy to grow by 6.5% in 2026, while expecting inflation to remain above the National Bank of Georgia’s target until mid-2027.
The United Nations’ World Economic Situation and Prospects 2026 projects Georgia’s economy to grow by 5.4% in 2026, while the World Bank’s June forecast estimates growth at 5% for 2026 and 5.5% for 2027, with the 2026 forecast downgraded by 0.5 percentage points.
Georgia’s real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.9% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while nominal GDP reached GEL 28.147 billion, according to Geostat’s September 18 data.
