New Zealanders from across the country will be taking to
forests, beaches, parks, and town centres today to protest
against the Government’s controversial Conservation
Amendment Bill.
More than 30 events are planned, in
all the main cities and from as far north as Mangawhai and
Aotea/Great Barrier Island, all the way south to
Invercargill and Manapouri. They span from the east coast to
the west coast of both the North and South Island.

Greenpeace
spokesperson Gen Toop, who is coordinating the Day of
Action, says, “Public conservation land exists today because
generations of New Zealanders have cared for it and fought
to protect it. People are turning out this Saturday because
they don’t want to see those hard-won protections
dismantled.”
