Ioseb Alibegashvili Appointed as Governor in Samtskhe-Javakheti After Predecessor Passes Away – Civil Georgia

Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze appointed Ioseb Alibegashvili as state representative in Samtskhe-Javakheti, a region in Georgia’s south, after his predecessor, Zaal Gelashvili, passed away on August 5, the Government Administration announced on August 14.

According to the official press release, Kobakhidze and Mamuka Mdinaradze, who temporarily serves as GD Regional Development Minister, met with Alibegashvili at the Government Administration, where they discussed ongoing and planned projects in the region.

Before his appointment, Alibegashvili served as deputy state representative in the Kvemo Kartli region.

On August 12, Kobakhidze also appointed Levan Zautashvili, a former deputy regional development minister, as state representative in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
